St. Alban the Martyr

Holy Week & Easter

5 Apr 2020 12:01AM — 11 Apr 2020 11:59PM

However difficult the circumstances, we will still be celebrating Holy Week and Easter. We cannot meet together, but we can still worship together.

On Maundy Thursday we will be holding a service for members of our congregation using Zoom, which Fr Gerry will host from the upper landing of the vicarage to remind us that the original Last Supper was in an upper room. This will be followed by a video service of Tenebrae uploaded to YouTube. In Tenebrae the story of Jesus crucifixion is read out as candles are extinguished one by one until there is complete darkness. Members of the congregation are providing voice recordings of different sections of the story so we can all participate.

On Good Friday Fr Gerry will be producing a video of meditations on Jesus’ sufferings using photos of the Stations of the Cross in St Alban’s Church.

On Easter Sunday morning we will use Zoom so that members of the congregation can celebrate the Mass of the resurrection. For those who can’t join in there will be a video of the Mass on YouTube later in the day.

You can find the videos here: http://www.saintalban.co.uk/videos/services/.
