THE BAPTISM OF THE LORD
Let us pray ...
For the Church, that God's favour may always rest upon her and his Spirit overshadow her with truth and power.
For Justin, Archbishop of Canterbury; Pope Francis; Bartholomew, the Ecumenical Patriarch; and the leaders of all Christian churches.
With the Diocese of Birmingham for our own hosting of Local Welcome, which gives lunches to asylum seekers, and for its volunteers, and for our work in other community projects.
For all the churches of the Handsworth and Central Birmingham Deanery.
For Fr. Gerry and his family, our parish and congregation.
For the staff, students and governors at St Alban’s Academy and for Stanhope Wellbeing Hub.
For Highgate Baptist Church, St Anne's Roman Catholic Church, the Shia Mosque in Clifton Road, Birmingham Central Mosque, the Bahu Trust and Birmingham Central Synagogue.
For all the counsels and deliberations of the nations, that the Lord God may rule over them, guiding them into decisions which promote life, peace, justice and morality.
For all who have not been baptised, who have never heard of the name of Jesus or the kindness and generous love of the Father, that new missionaries may be raised up to bring the Good News to them.
For all who grieve, who are suffering sickness or live in poverty or who have someone in prison, the unemployed and those whose jobs are at risk, that they may know Jesus's unconditional supporting strength and comfort.
For those for whom our prayers have been asked.
For the faithful departed, that the power of God's grace may bring them to the fullness of glory.
For all who have died recently, especially Fr Brian Doolan and Debby Skerrett, for all who have died suddenly, alone or unprepared; and by name amongst those whose anniversaries occur at this time for: Doreen Ayers, Anthony Morton, Irene Courts, Stanley Adams, Rosalind Onians, James Deeming, Alfred Rogers, Kenneth Stock; priest, and Barry Selwood. May they rest in peace and rise in glory.
Let us join our prayers with those of all the saints and especially with Mary, mother of Our Risen Lord and Queen of Peace.
