Let us pray ...
For all bishops and priests that they may present themselves as models for the faithful, worthy of imitation in every virtue.
For Justin, Archbishop of Canterbury; Pope Francis; Bartholomew, the Ecumenical Patriarch; and the leaders of all Christian churches.
On thisSunday that the Roman Catholic church is observing today as World Day of the Poor, with the Diocese of Birmingham, for Birmingham Poverty Truth, which is based on the idea that to really address poverty in the city, people who have experience of living in poverty need to be involved in decisions about how to resolve the issue of poverty.
In our Deanery for the parish of St Martin-in-the-Bullring.
For Fr. Gerry and his family, our parish and congregation.
For the staff, students and governors at St Alban’s Academy and for Stanhope Wellbeing Hub.
For Highgate Baptist Church, St Anne's Roman Catholic Church, the Shia Mosque in Clifton Road, Birmingham Central Mosque, the Bahu Trust and Birmingham Central Synagogue.
For the world’s leaders, that they may not hide behind their power or abuse it, but work for the good of all humanity, particularly the poor, throughout the world.
For all victims of human trafficking and modern-day slavery; may they find freedom from fear and harm, and courage to live in hope.
For those suffering financially, through loss of income or home during the pandemic that they may be comforted by laying down their burdens at the feet of Jesus and be guided in their decisions by the Holy Spirit.
For those whose lives are marked by poverty, hunger, grief or sickness that each may be assured of the grace and mercy of God.
For those for whom our prayers have been asked.
(Members of our congregation who are visiting this page because they cannot attend the church due to Covid-19, please note that we never publish the names of the vulnerable individuals for whom we pray on the website. You may receive a full copy of the intercessions including these names by e-mail.)
For all the faithful departed: may God give them a place of rest, happiness and peace.
For for all who have died recently, especially those who have died as a result of Covid-19 and those who have died suddenly, alone or unprepared.
By name amongst those whose years' mind occur at this time for: Phoebe Lee, Emily Robinson, Herbert Brooks, Ray Cooke, George Cowdrey, Alice Spaull, Peter Baird, George Price and Paul Fenton. Rest eternal grant unto them, O Lord, and let light perpetual shine upon them.
Let us join our prayers with those of all the saints and especially with Mary, mother of Our Lord and Queen of Peace. Hail, Mary, full of grace …
God our loving father is listening; let us now pray for a while in silence, bringing Him our cares and concerns.
