St. Alban the Martyr

Sunday 22nd November
Christ the Universal King
and Sunday next before Advent

Let us pray ...

For the leaders of the Church, that they may preach Jesus Christ and Him crucified, our heavenly King.

For Justin, Archbishop of Canterbury; Pope Francis; Bartholomew, the Ecumenical Patriarch; and the leaders of all Christian churches.

In the Diocese of Birmingham, for the congregation of Christ the King in Shirley, celebrating an online “Sunday at Home” Patronal Festivaly.

In our Deanery, for the parish of St John the Evangelist, Perry Barr.

For Fr. Gerry and his family, our parish and congregation.

For the staff, students and governors at St Alban’s Academy and for Stanhope Wellbeing Hub.

For Highgate Baptist Church, St Anne's Roman Catholic Church, the Shia Mosque in Clifton Road, Birmingham Central Mosque, the Bahu Trust and Birmingham Central Synagogue.

For the leaders of the nations, that they may recognise God's sovereignty; may they be crowned with compassion, that all peoples may live in peace.

For ourselves, that we may be servants to one another, mindful that in imitating the example of Christ our King we shall meet Him in the most unlikely of places.

For our homes and families, our schools and young people, and all in any kind of need or distress as a result of COVID-19.

For all who suffer, those with an incurable disease, those unjustly imprisoned, those denied dignity, the hungry, those without shelter and those who live without hope; through human hands may Christ's love and power bring them relief.

For those for whom our prayers have been asked.

(Members of our congregation who are visiting this page because they cannot attend the church due to Covid-19, please note that we never publish the names of the vulnerable individuals for whom we pray on the website. You may receive a full copy of the intercessions including these names by e-mail.)

For all the faithful departed, that Christ may grant them rest through His kingship of the living and dead.

For for all who have died recently, especially those who have died as a result of Covid-19 and those who have died suddenly, alone or unprepared.

By name amongst those whose years' mind occur at this time for: Nancie Owen, Lena Evans, Eric Aspinall, George Holt, Joyce Hodgetts, and Corinne Bennett. Rest eternal grant unto them, O Lord, and let light perpetual shine upon them.

Let us join our prayers with those of all the saints and especially with Mary, mother of Our Lord, Seat of Wisdom, and Queen of Heaven. Hail, Mary, full of grace …

Let us now pray for a while in silence, bringing our cares and concerns to the throne of grace.
