St. Alban the Martyr

CANDLEMAS
(Presentation of the Lord in the Temple; Purification of the Blessed Virgin Mary)

Let us pray ...

For the Church, that it may be a light to all nations and a beacon for all peoples.

For Justin, Archbishop of Canterbury; Pope Francis; Bartholomew, the Ecumenical Patriarch; and the leaders of all Christian churches.

With the Diocese of Birmingham for Pioneer ministers in the Diocese, especially in the Druids Heath area of the Kings Norton parish, and for all who step beyond the walls of the church and live the love of Christ in unusual places, that these pioneers will have courage, vision, creativity and patience.

For all the churches of the Handsworth and Central Birmingham Deanery.

For Fr. Gerry and his family, our parish and congregation.

For the staff, students and governors at St Alban’s Academy and for Stanhope Wellbeing Hub.

For Highgate Baptist Church, St Anne's Roman Catholic Church, the Shia Mosque in Clifton Road, Birmingham Central Mosque, the Bahu Trust and Birmingham Central Synagogue.

For God's reign of peace, that people might need no longer live in fear of war, conflict or terrorism.

For enlightened minds and hearts among those who act and work for the public good; may we recognise Christ in the community, knowing Him as our brother and companion in life.

For those who mourn, the sick, those in any kind of trouble and all who need God's healing touch in their lives.

For those for whom our prayers have been asked.

For the souls of the faithful departed who have come into the glorious light of eternity.

For all who have died recently, especially Betty Vickery, Celia Joice and Fr Brian Doolan, for all who have died suddenly, alone or unprepared; and by name amongst those whose anniversaries occur at this time for: Michael Whinney (bishop), George Trevelyan (priest), Ronald Spaull, Ted Wassail, Marjorie Preston, Lily Brandwood, William Priday, and Eric Ayers. May they rest in peace and rise in glory.

Let us join our prayers with those of all the saints and especially with Mary, mother of Our Risen Lord and Queen of Peace.
