St. Alban the Martyr

Sunday 9th January
The Baptism of the Lord

Let us pray ...

For the Church, that God's favour may always rest upon her and his Spirit overshadow her with truth and power.

For Justin, Archbishop of Canterbury; Pope Francis; Bartholomew, the Ecumenical Patriarch; and the leaders of all Christian churches.

With the Diocese of Birmingham, for the developing links forming with the Anglican Church in Bolivia , with various visits affirming our mutual commitment to support one another in mission across continents.

In our Deanery, for the parish of St Mark, Kingstanding.

For Fr. Gerry and his family, our parish and congregation.

For the staff, students and governors at St Alban’s Academy and for Stanhope Wellbeing Hub.

For Highgate Baptist Church, St Anne's Roman Catholic Church, the Shia Mosque in Clifton Road, Birmingham Central Mosque, the Bahu Trust and Birmingham Central Synagogue.

For all the counsels and deliberations of the nations, that God may rule over them, guiding them into decisions which promote life, peace, justice and morality.

For all who have not been baptised, who have never heard of the name of Jesus or the kindness and generous love of the Father, that new missionaries may be raised up to bring the Good News to them.

For all who continue to guide our nation during the pandemic, and shape national policies, that they may make wise decisions.

For all who grieve, who are suffering sickness, who live in poverty or who have someone in prison, the unemployed and those whose jobs are at risk, that they may know Jesus's unconditional supporting strength, love and comfort.

For those for whom our prayers have been asked.

(Members of our congregation who are visiting this page because they cannot attend the church due to Covid-19, please note that we never publish the names of the vulnerable individuals for whom we pray on the website. You may receive a full copy of the intercessions including  these names by e-mail.)

For the faithful departed, that the power of God's grace may bring them to the fullness of glory.

For all who have died recently especially Peter Marsh and Paul Brooks, those who have died as a result of COVID-19 and those who have died suddenly, unprepared or alone.

By name amongst those whose years' mind occur at this time for: Hester MacQueen, John Miller, Doreen Ayers, Anthony Morton, Irene Courts, and Rosalind Onians. Rest eternal grant unto them, O Lord, and let light perpetual shine upon them.

We offer these prayers with those of all the saints and with Mary, mother of Our Baptised Lord and Queen of Peace. Hail, Mary, full of grace …

Let us bring to God our loving, listening Father, our own needs and intentions in a time of silence.
