St. Alban the Martyr

Phase II Roof Renewal — December 2020

This page is part of our project "Revealing St Alban's Hidden Heritage" supported by a grant from The National Lottery Heritage Fund, thanks to players of The National Lottery.

On the 11th of December the scaffolding by the south aisle had been struck and the new tiles were illuminated by the the low winter sun.

We have also given some attention to the long neglected doors of the south porch on Conybere Street. The metal work has been repainted, the wood treated with linseed oil and the unsightly padlock moved to the inside of the doors.

Perhaps one day we will be able to renew the stonework of this doorway.

The West Doors too have been refurbished in the same way and the hand rails repainted.

On the 17th of December the remaining debris was cleared from the site and the last skip of waste left.
