An illustrated talk by Churchwarden Chris Smith about the building of St Alban’s Church featuring the original drawings for the church by Architect John Loughborough Pearson. A brief account of St Alban’s Mission and its first churches; the need for a new church; arguments over what was needed; William Butterfield’s withdrawal as architect; J. L. Pearson to the rescue; Mission Creep; Pearson’s Drawings.
Toilets are available (including a wheelchair-friendly one).
Entrance for this event is through the step-free cloister entrance via a path beside the church from a gate on Stanhope Street. Door open from 5:00 p.m.
There is no admission charge, but donations for church restoration and our organ fund are welcomed.
