St Alban’s is a Victorian Gothic Church opened in 1881, designed by John Loughborough Pearson, with spectacular stone vaulting.

A side chapel contains a fine Arts-and-Crafts altar piece by Birmingham artists Kate and Myra Bunce.

There are stained-glass windows by Henry Payne, Sidney Meteyard, John Hardman & Co., Morris & Co., Clayton & Bell, and Frank Albert Smallpiece.

You can look round with guide cards and leaflets or take a free guided tour (when a volunteer guide is available).

Free leaflets are available in the church for a heritage trail around the parish of 1.2, 1.6 or 2 miles (2, 2.6 or 3.2 km).

The main entrance is up steps from Stanhope Street, but step-free access to the church is available via a path beside the church from a gate on Stanhope Street.

There is wheelchair access to all internal areas except the choir and high altar. The Bunce altar piece is in an accessible side chapel.

Toilets are available (including a wheelchair-friendly one).

We hope to provide tea and coffee, if we have enough volunteers available.

There is no admission charge, but donations for church restoration or our organ fund are welcomed.

Visitors are also welcome to join our church services at 10:00 a.m. on each Sunday, but circulation around the church and photography are not allowed during the services.
