There are normally a number of concerts and recitals at St Alban the Martyr throughout the year.
Some are given by members of the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and admission is free (with an optional retiring collection for the church).
We usually serve tea and coffee after these events in our adjacent church hall, St Patrick's Room.
Following a period without concerts due to Covid-19 we were able to resume with a short classical song recital by Salwan Cartwright-Shamoon accompanied on the piano by Xizi Zhang at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday 18th September 2021. Here is a recording of that recital:
More details and the programme are here: http://www.saintalban.co.uk/news/2021/09/09/classical-song-recital/.
Sadly, resurgence of Covid-19 infections led to cancellation of the Birmingham Bach Society Service of Nine Lessons and Carols that was scheduled for 19th December 2021.
However, we now look forward to the following concerts:
- 25th May 2022 7:30 p.m. Organ recital by David Briggs, organist here from 1979 to 1981 and currently Artist in Residence at the Cathedral of St John the Divine, New York. Given in aid of the Music Fund - admission £10 (Students £7) tickets available on the door or booking via Eventbrite.
- 16th June 2022 *** CANCELLED *** The planned concert by the Chamber Choir of the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire is now cancelled.
We hope to add more concerts, so do check back here regularly, or if you would like to be added to a list to be notified of musical events at the church, send an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org.
